Artist Profile
- Azumi Nishizawa, Piano
- Pianist, associate member of the Royal Academy of Arts of Cadiz, Spain, and president of the Japan Association of Friends of Falla.
Based in Granada, Spain, she is highly regarded around the world as a specialist in Spanish music. After graduating from the Conservatoire de Paris with a unanimous first prize, she was invited by Joaquin Soriano, a leading Spanish pianist and renowned professor, to move to Madrid. Since her debut at the Geneva Arts Association regular concert in 2002, she has been actively performing around the world. In addition to recitals in Europe and Asia and appearances at music festivals around the world, she has collaborated on a project with the baroque music group Extravaganz using the harpsichord. She is also active in a wide range of activities, including performing at events at the Italian fashion week "Pitti" and musical theater tours with popular actors in both Spain and Japan. The band's concert in Rome in June 2010 was recorded and repeatedly broadcast on RAI (Italian national television) and CANAL 10, and in recognition of their active activities around the world, they were awarded the 2010 Internet Music Festival International Goodwill Award.
He has released three CDs of Spanish music from the prestigious Spanish label VERSO. "Manuel de Falla Complete Piano Works" (2010) attracted attention as a historic project to create one of the few complete piano works by the world-renowned Spanish composer Falla. All five titles released so far have also been released in Japan and all have been selected as Record Geijutsu Special Selections or Semi-Special Selections.
In 2003, he appeared and performed in the film "Fukumimi" (starring Kudo Kankuro and Tanaka Kunie). In 2004, he became a part-time professor at Shanghai Normal University. Since 2006, he has been performing in concerts and master classes in various locations as an exclusive Yamaha Spain-Portugal artist. In 2022, he founded the Japan Falla Friendship Association with the aim of researching and popularizing European Latin music, with a focus on Falla. He is a Concert Imagine artist.
