Yukio Yokoyama, Piano
After becoming the youngest Japanese person to ever win a prize at the Chopin International Piano Competition, she began her full-fledged performance career and continues to attract attention as a top artist in the classical music world.
In 2010, in commemoration of the 200th anniversary of Chopin's birth, the 14-hour concert "Chopin in the Heart" was recognized by the Guinness World Records, and the following year, he broke his own record. Furthermore, he was successful in an unprecedented project to perform all 240 pieces composed by Chopin in his lifetime in three days, which was released on DVD.
In 2020, the 250th anniversary of Beethoven's birth, they accomplished the great feat of performing all of the sonatas in two days and released a DVD of the entire performance.
His latest CD is a live recording of his 30th anniversary debut concert, "Yokoyama Yukio: Chopin Piano Concertos No. 1 & No. 2, etc." (Sony Music).
He is also active as an educator and music producer.
He has taught as a visiting professor at numerous music universities and, following the wishes of the late Ms. Hiroko Nakamura, serves as president of the Japan Paderewski Society.
