Karuizawa Ando Museum of Art Exhibition Room

Exhibition Overview

Japan's first private museum with a permanent exhibition exclusively of works by Foujita opens
The Karuizawa Ando Museum of Art will finally open on October 8, 2022.
The museum has a collection of about 180 pieces of Fujita's work, which the representative director Yasushi Ando, who has been involved in the revitalization of many companies, and his wife Megumi have collected over the years and treasured in their home. The museum is the only private museum in Japan to exhibit a wide range of Fujita's works, from paintings of "Girls," "Cats," and "Madonna and Child," motifs that Fujita continued to paint throughout his life, to his precious early landscapes, the milky nudes that are synonymous with Fujita, and handicrafts such as furniture and tableware that he decorated himself.

As part of the opening celebrations, almost all of the museum's major works will be on display.
To commemorate the opening, the opening project will display almost all of the museum's major works from the museum's collection of approximately 180 pieces. This will be a rare opportunity to get an overview of the museum's entire collection. In addition, while there are almost no opportunities to take photos with Fujita's works in regular museums, this exhibition has been made a photo spot in exhibition room 5 with the full cooperation of the Fondation Fujita in France. Only during this special period will you be able to take home memories of your visit to the museum.
*We plan to hold special exhibitions from time to time in the future. Details will be announced as soon as they are decided.
